Travel to your French holiday by Ferry or Eurotunnel

Thank you for the stay in your lovely farmhouse. You have done a fantastic job renovating it. We had a great time and the skiing was fantastic. I'm amazed how quickly the kids picked it up. Also thanks for organising the food that was a godsend when we arrived.

We have just returned home this evening and it is great to hear from you. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Farmhouse – it was a brilliant base for exploring the area. The blue book was particularly useful and we took you up on many of your recommendations for day trips. The Petit Train D’Artouste and the little family beach under the Musee de la Mer in Biarritz we our extra special favourites. On the days when we chose not to wander too far, the little tractor and paddling pool came in very handy in keeping the little ones entertained. You have thought about everything and your personal touches really made us feel instantly at home – thank you.

Very best wishes,
Paul, Val and Archie

The house is great and unbelievably well equipped. It is so nice to find phone chargers, tool kits, etc. Also, it makes a big difference to find the odd useful food item in the cupboards rather than completely bare as in many other self–catering properties. We stayed in Mallorca once and they didn’t even supply a sink cloth. Jack really appreciated all the ride–on toys and different books to read. When he asked for a paddling pool I thought I’d better check if there was one before dismissing it out of hand and lo and behold there was, as well as the sun tent to shade him while he was in it! He had a great time. The bike was great – he cycled all the way to the restaurant on it.

Mountains2Coast provided our young family with a truly bespoke holiday experience that struck the perfect balance between family fun and cultural escapism. The Farmhouse is a true delight, modified to contain every modern convenience whilst retaining the true essence of French country charm. The owners have clearly thought through the needs of a travelling family with great care and attention to detail. The level of support and advice provided, both before and during our holiday, was exceptional and served to make our holiday everything we dreamed it would be. Set in an area that combines tranquil rural surroundings with easy access to local amenities, the Farmhouse location catered for all our needs and allowed us to experience wonderful local cuisine, glorious beaches, stunning mountain scenery, picturesque villages, marvellous markets, fun filled waterparks and the feeling that you are experiencing the true nature of southern France. If you are looking to get away from a the trappings of a 'touristy' experience in France whilst maintaining a practical environment for a young family, then this holiday is exactly what you are looking for.

A quick e-mail to say how wonderful a trip we have just had to France. The weather was fantastic- clear crisp mornings, perfect for walking, with warm afternoons, perfect for relaxing! We must compliment you on the farmhouse, no detail has been overlooked. It was so well equipped, we wanted for nothing. We do travel quite a bit and have to say that this was the very best self catering accommodation that we have stayed in. We are impressed at how the farmhouse has been renovated so sympathetically - can’t wait to see what you do with the barn! The location of the farmhouse is excellent, with both the coast and the Pyrennes short drives away. For one of us it was a first trip to France, what a wonderful introduction! We will be recommending your farmhouse to friends and family! Thank you so much for the wine and the baguette, both welcome after a long trip from Cheshire.

What a lovely farmhouse you have. We absolutely enjoyed the 2 weeks we were there. We were lucky because Navarrenx had their 4 day festival whilst we were at Gurs and the firework display was brilliant. We spent a lot of time in Navarrenx at the Piscine and went to Artouste, twice! The train journey into the mountains was great and we saw some Marmots. On the journey back home we stayed at L’Abbey in Beaugancy. What a wonderful place this was. Would definitely come to Gurs again - hopefully next year and would like to stay again at the farmhouse, will contact you later in the year.

Thanks, we had a wonderful holiday and definitely the Farmhouse was our favourite place - things we liked were:

The personal touches, the notes from yourself and Alison, all the info on hand seemed to have your voice and so when we left we felt that we wanted to say goodbye to you but you weren’t there! The toys for the kids – thanks a million. The DVDs for me and hubby. The fact that the kitchen was very well thought through and equipped. We had a truly wonderful dinner at L’hopital St Blaise. The petite train d’artouste was very memorable. We loved the markets in Navarrenx. The kids loved the walks around Gurs and the little playground. We had a couple of cool drizzly days, the perfect antidote for families coming from summer in the desert!

We all had a great time - the house was lovely, and perfectly positioned for all our activities. L»etape was hard, hot and very long, but it was well organised (for the French!) though there were 8000 people squeezed onto Marie Blanque, so it was a little congested. The week of cycling that followed was wonderful. Sunshine and long hills. Thanks for the farmhouse - great fun. I would certainly like to return there, and will be in touch.

Travel by Ferry or Eurotunnel to the holiday gite in France

By ferry or by Eurotunnel, you can enjoy a quick cross channel crossing to reach the cottage in France

Again, plenty of options to choose from! You can comfortably drive from Western Channel ports to the French farmhouse within a day, Calais is approx a 12-13 hour drive. The two Spanish ports are the nearest to the cottage.

If you chose to drive from Calais and wish to break up your journey, we can recommend a nice place to stop off overnight around the Loire Valley area which has been recommended by previous guests.
